LND DIGITAL WORKSHOP EVALUATION, April 2008

1. Which parts of the course were the most helpful?

  • The photo match tool in SketchUp, Different plan rendering techniques by creating brushes, Introduction of fill layers.

  • I don't know that I can say there was one part more helpful then the rest as it was all helpful.  The part I liked the most was the PhotoMatch in SketchUp.  I really look forward to using that in the future to really help our firm start setting itself apart from other firms as far as graphics are concerned.

  • I appreciated seeing the different ways to adjust colors in Photoshop. I also really liked the photomatch process and building layers from Sketchup to Photoshop.

  • I think the Photo Match was very helpful and it will be something we will use often.  I also appreciated all the Photoshop tips.  There were lots of time saving tips and the use of the masks and layer control will be something I will definitely use.

  • Photomatch is something tangible that we can use now.  The techniques for creating Photoshop effects for perspectives were also beneficial.

2. Was the course able to offer you something at your skill level?

  • Yes.

  • Yes, I think the course offered something for every skill level.

  • Yes, it was understandable and possible to follow along.

  • I am very new to SketchUp, but I definitely feel more comfortable to use the program.  I feel like I now have enough knowledge and understanding of this program that I can utilize it in everyday activities at work.  In regards to Photoshop, I use this program fairly frequently, but I learned so many tips and tricks that will really help me speed up my production.

  • Yes, although our group had varying skill levels, we all learned.  Whether it was a new technique or a review of existing techniques with shortcuts, we all benefited.

3. What was your overall impression of the course?

  • Great... good pace, covered a good amount of material, learned helpful shortcuts.

  • Excellent, we worked at a pace that was slow enough for everyone to pretty much keep up, but were still able to get through all of the material.

  • Very good. I'm glad I was able to participate.

  • I thought it was an excellent course full of lots good USEFUL information that will be easy to apply.

  • The course was much needed for our group to expand our graphic capabilities.  We now feel like we are armed with more ammunition when it comes to expressing design concepts.

4. Which parts of the course most increased the efficiency and quality of your real world office work?  Was any technique in particular a time-saver?

  • Having a better understanding of SketchUp in general & combining the two programs will increase efficiency.

  • Some of the photoshop shortcuts have already and I know will continue to improve my efficiency.  Specifically, duplicating a layer into another drawing will be extremely helpful.

  • I haven't had too much of a chance to apply yet, but I'm looking forward to using images with overlays to explain concepts to clients.

  • Your explanation of how these programs worked really helped me to understand how we can use these everyday.  I think the Photo Match will be a huge time saver, but I was also very interested in learning about the perspectives you created in Photoshop.  The masks were super helpful along with the "distort" command.  The hue and saturation is something I had not used before and that will really make a difference in creating the perspectives.  In addition, I have already started using the masks on separate layers.  It really helps knowing you can quickly make changes and that the color decisions, etc, are not permanent.

  • Photomatch will be a great time-saving tool for marketing efforts and streetscape illustrations.  The biggest efficiency will be that all of our staff now has a base of knowledge in these applications and the learning curve has been greatly reduced, allowing more employees the opportunity to assist on a variety of projects at a higher capacity.

5. What could be added to make the course better?

  • I don't have any ideas that could help improve upon the course.

  • The only problem I had is I would miss a step every now and then, and while I was looking for it, I was missing more steps.  It wasn't too often, but there would be several steps that I didn't follow.

  • I don't have any suggestions to make it better.  It was perfect for my skill level.  I think it was good to start the SketchUp portion with a few of the basics as I was not as familiar with that program.  Thanks for your time.

  • Since the course was so comprehensive I am not sure it needs anything else.  I wouldn’t mind seeing an advanced version of this course that would be focused on a smaller audience but would expand on these tools and might incorporate 3D Max, Rhino, or other 3D applications.
